Our Story

We strive to build a vibrant, local community for winemakers, vineyard growers, and wine enthusiasts by providing a robust event calendar and by serving as a connector among the participants in our local wine and vineyard community.

PCWGA provides educational programs to its members and the public, encourages the use of ecologically sound and sustainable agricultural practices, and serves as an advocate for the wine and grape industry in public and government matters.

The Placer County Wine and Grape Association (PCWGA) was established in 1999 as a non-profit 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation established to promote the making of wine and the growing of wine grapes on both a commercial basis and as a hobby.

Our Region

The topography, soil, and climate of Placer County are perfect for wine grapes as it is similar to Southern France and Italy both in temperature (heat summation) and soil content. In the long summer months, grapes are easily ripened to perfection culminating in wine that is rich and deep in color and flavor.

Mentor Program

Do you need hands-on experience or have a question on managing grapevines or wine making?

Membership

Membership in PCWGA provides access to members-only events, vineyard and winemaking mentors and discounts from select sponsors.
